Update: We learned exclusively that Peta Wilson has been replaced by Devon Sorvari (The Dark, The Realm). According to the ever-so unreliable IMDB Steven Brand (as "Dr. Ross Craven"), Sanny Van Heteren (as "Kate Bradley"), Tracey Fairaway (as "Emma") and Daniel Buran (as "Vagrant") all star in Dimension Films' low budget Hellraiser: Revelations. If the site is correct, Brand landed the lead role of Dr. Craven, a man who is attempting to bring the family back to normal after his son went missing two years ago. He's described as a "good man that has fought hard to keep his family together." Fairaway plays his daughter, Emma, described as "lovely and inquisitive and on the verge of her own womanhood." Filming is already underway here in Los Angeles under the direction of Víctor Garcia (Return to House on Haunted Hill, Mirrors II). FX specialist Gary J. Tunnicliffe penned the screenplay that follows two friends who unleash Pinhead, who becomes their master of pain. Apparently, one of the friends has a change of heart. He backs out on his oath hoping to swap himself out with one of hi friend's family members.
@AllMustPay's got it exactly right. This isn't even an original Hellraiser story. It's a stupid cheap script molded to fit around the Hellraiser arc. No wonder Bradley said "F that shit" this time. I can't believe how this franchise character (pinhead) who had the potential to be every bit as popular and famous as Freddy, Michael, and Jason, has been so horribly disregarded and mishandled since the mid 90's. This character deserves so much better. Demension/Weinstein Company should be ashamed of themselves for so bady wasting this franchise...if you can even call it that anymore.
This sequel reminds me of The Stepfather 3. A sequel was better than a remake, only if they had kept Doug Bradly. But then again, I don't blame Doug for turning this mess down, no one should.
FrenchFryGuy is wrong, this isn't a re-edit, it's an original screenplay written originally as Gary J. Tunnicliffe's Hellraiser remake pitch. He's been working on the Hr films since part 3, and wrote the short "No More Souls" film. of cours,e he's going to write his own Hellraiser from scratch.
@ScarecrowX Does it really matter anymore at this point who actually wrote the script? Bradley feels so disenfranchised by the whole thing that he doesn't even want anything to do with the franchise anymore. What Weinstein Company has allowed to happen to this franchise is disgraceful and with all do repsect to Mr. Tunnicliffe (AKA the special effects makeup guy of the series), he's not the guy to save this franchise.
@FrenchFry, I would not dispute that. I'm just pointing out that it is not a re-written script, as you suggested previously but is written by someone with a deep passion for the series who worked on the DTV films for almost no wages simply to be involved. The producers upstairs may make these terrible choices, but it does not mean the filmmakers themselves won't at least try to do the best they can in a bad situation.
The best Hellraiser films _I and II) were not about The Lead Cenobite (Pinhead). No film should focus on him. He is a consequence not the antagonist. In fact a new Hellraiser with no Pinhead would be just the kick the franchise needs. Bring back Leviathan, the Cenobites , The Labyrinth, and the mythos of Lament Configuration. Forget Pinhead. Give me more "Angels to some", but give it a story based around charaters not the monsters.
I don't understand why even call these sequels Hellraiser when they were originally something else decided to add pinhead in the middle. I'm getting tired of all these Hellraiser direct to video sequels. Every single bad awful Halloween and friday the 13th sequel have went to theatres even when they have bomb at the box office another sequel the next near hit theatres. I guess Dimension films care more about Halloween franchise which they totally screwed up than the Hellraiser Franchise which they fucked over.
That would be nice if someone was able to make this franchise good again. Even without Bradley it doesn't mean it can't be good... I really hope this director can bring a breath of fresh air to this series that so desperately needs it. It's damn better than a remake, because at least if it's bad there are a lot of chances that no one will see it.
A new Hellraiser I'm in but with very low expectations indeed!
