Miguel Drop Kicks Two Women At Billboard Awards Show: Hilarious Video Inside

I have absolutely no idea who Miguel is or why he was performing at the Billboard Awards 2013 ceremony. Then again, I have almost no concept of what “popular” music means anymore since I rarely, if ever, listen to the radio. But at the award ceremony he was, performing some song called “Adorn” and looking like a Michael Jackson/Prince backup dancer when everything went horribly wrong.

See, what happened was Miguel decided that it was a good idea to leap over the crowd from one section of the stage to another. However, he miscalculated the distance and proceeded to drop kick one women in the face and slam into another before landing on his keister and finishing the song holding a woman that looked suspiciously like Sally Struthers.

I could explain it a bit more but I just recommend you watch the video below, complete with commentary from WWE announcer Jim Ross (so good). There’s also a GIF for you to enjoy over and over again. READ MORE

Kid Rock Just Keeps Becoming More And More Awesome

While I don’t enjoy listening to Kid Rock‘s music at all, I have to admit that the guy is becoming more and more of a badass with each act. There was the situation where he slammed Ticketmaster fees and ensured that there wouldn’t be huge charges added to ticket costs. He also dropped prices on his tour t-shirts to very reasonable prices. Oh, then there was the deal where he brought beer prices at concerts WAY down (by something like 50%).

Now, Kid Rock (real name Bob Ritchie) at the Billboard Award 2013 ceremony slipped in a stinging comment on musical performances by saying, “Let’s give it up for people lip-synching under pre-recorded music.” While some are speculating that it might’ve been a direct insult against Chris Brown (which is always a welcome thing), I’m going to have to assume that Rock was levying this insult at pretty much anyone who is guilty of lip-synching. The fact that he did this on live TV is pretty awesome and just makes me like the guy all the more. I feel like he and I would have a fun chat over some beer.

Head on below to see video of Rock’s comment. READ MORE

Exclusive: Metallica’s Lars Ulrich Wants To Follow Rob Zombie’s Footsteps, Make A Movie!

Metallica’s Lars Ulrich wants to follow in the footsteps of Rob Zombie and direct a movie, Getty Images Entertainment exclusively tips off Bloody Disgusting.

Ulrich revealed the ambition during an interview with Getty Images Entertainment in Cannes where he is promoting his new movie, the band’s upcoming 3D film, Through the Never.

The biggest enemy I have is time,” Ulrich explains. “Metallica in its 32nd year is busier and has more projects on the table and takes up more of my time than it ever has.

I may do it,” he continues. “I would love to do something. I have actually been offered the chance to both direct and produce as well as write and I’ve acted in a couple of films so I do what I can.

Metallica is the main thing in my life and I’m not doing to turn my back on that.READ MORE

[Exclusive] Stream “In The Sleeping Death” From A Pale Horse Named Death

Bloody-Disgusting is thrilled to team up with A Pale Horse Named Death to bring you an exclusive stream of their song “In The Sleeping Death”, which comes from their new album Lay My Soul To Waste! The melodic, haunting grunge/metal track is a fantastic slow burner, one that has stayed with me since I first heard it. The best way I can describe it is that it sounds like Alice In Chains only rawer, more real, and more evil. I’m beyond excited that I get to share this song with all of you readers! Head on below to give the song a listen before the album drops tomorrow.

Singer/guitarist Sal Abruscato (ex-Type O Negative) states, ““In The Sleeping Death” is about an extremely depressed and suicidal individual that is seeking the inner peace of death and wants to leave the living behind.

Lay My Soul To Waste comes out tomorrow via Steamhammer/SPV Records. Pre-orders are available for LP here and CD ">here. READ MORE

Megadeth Stream New Song “Kingmaker”

Thrash metal titans Megadeth have released a stream of “Kingmaker”, a new song from their upcoming album Super Collider, which comes out June 4th. The album can be pre-ordered on Amazon.

In an interview with the Shockwaves/Hardradio podcast, singer/guitarist Dave Mustaine explains the meaning of “Kingmaker”, stating, “The song ‘Kingmaker’ is about how people are running from their problems… And there’s a lot of that on this particular record — just looking at, like, ‘Here’s what I’ve got. What are you gonna do with it?’ It’s talking a lot about this generation, how people, their lives are falling apart and they just take pills. Instead of sucking up and doing what I did and going and getting the surgery and getting off the medication, they’ll continue to just trudge it out until the end of their life where they just take pills until their body is eaten… And the other thing that’s part of that song is talking about how when you take these things how they make you feel different. Some people, they get into that ’cause they like the way it makes you feel, ’cause it makes you kind of feel warm and fuzzy. In the song, it talks about wanting to fly and being ten feet tall. Booze does that to some people. And this is just something that, I think, if there is a way that I can help educate a lot of our fans, especially the younger ones that still have their whole life ahead of them, it’s not as glamorous as you think it is to go down that path of just checking it out and drugging yourself up and not facing reality…

Straight away I can tell you that “Kingmaker” is about 100 times better than the title track, “Super Collider”. However, it’s the first track on the album and is directly followed by “Super Collider”, which means we’re going from a fairly badass thrasher to a serious junker, which never bodes well for the flow of an album.

Head on below to listen to “Kingmaker”. READ MORE

[Interview] Michael Wandmacher (‘The Last Exorcism II’) On Composing Horror

It’s no secret that one of my biggest passions regarding horror is the score. The gore, violence, and atmosphere don’t nearly mean as much to me if there isn’t a solid score behind it. Some of the most terrifying scenes in horror can be attributed to the music hovering over the intensity.

That’s why I was thrilled when I was given the opportunity to interview composer Michael Wandmacher, who horror fans know from such films as Piranha, My Bloody Valentine, The Last Exorcist II, The Haunting In Connecticut 2: Ghosts Of Georgia, and much more. In this exclusive interview, Wandmacher talks what it means to score a horror film, the differences in scoring for film versus TV versus video games, and more. We also get to hear a bit about the score for the upcoming film Angry Little Gods, which stars genre favorite Ron Perlman (Hellboy, Cronos) and is directed by Daniel Stamm (The Last Exorcism).

The Black Dahlia Murder Stream New Evil Dead-Inspired Song “Raped In Hatred By Vines Of Thorn”

Detroit metal masters The Black Dahlia Murder have released a stream of a new song entitled “Raped In Hatred By Vines Of Thorn”, which comes from their upcoming album Everblack. The album is slated for release on June 11th and can be pre-ordered here.

In a recent article we posted, vocalist Trevor Strnad describes his memory of seeing the original Evil Dead and how it influenced this track: “I remember the first time I saw Evil Dead… it was at my friend’s birthday party in 7th grade. It was recommended by the same older sister that had gotten us all into punk and heavy metal music… so we knew we were in for the real deal. The movie scared the unholy 13 year old shit out of us… we were terrified. I remember the possessions really affecting me… the way the people would contort and writhe was disturbing. The possessed had that awful way that they sounded when they spoke and howled… pretty insane as well. The vine rape scene was intense… I love the idea of the forest coming alive… so much so that I wrote a song about it many years later.

August Burns Red Releases New Single “Fault Line”

Metalcore band August Burns Red has released a lyric video for “Fault Line”, the first single from their upcoming album Rescue & Restore, which comes out June 25th. The album is the followup to 2011′s Leveler (unless you want to count 2012′s Christmas album August Burns Red Presents: Sleddin’ Hill). The album can be pre-ordered in many different packages here.

Guitarist JB Brubaker comments, “’Fault Line’ is a staple sounding ABR song. It’s a good place to start when whetting people’s appetites for Rescue & Restore.

Brubaker discusses the album, stating, “Rescue & Restore is about challenging other bands and ourselves, as well as fans of this music, to want more than whatever happens to be the current buzz,” explains Brubaker. “We’ve done our best with each new album to try to push our sound in new directions and we’d like to see our peers do the same. People need to realize that there’s not much of a difference between a metalcore song that has a couple breakdowns with a repeating chorus and the latest Lady Gaga song. This genre used to be better than that. It can still be better than that.

Lamb Of God’s Randy Blythe Writes Passionate Plea To Metal Fans

Randy Blythe, vocalist for Lamb Of God, has posted a lengthy essay on his Tumblr entitled “Be Carefully”. It is a heartbreaking, emotional piece in which Randy explains many of his feelings after he was exonerated of the death of 19-year old Daniel Nosek, who died after suffering injuries at a 2010 LoG concert in Prague. It is also a post in which Blythe makes impassioned pleas to the metal community, both the fans as well as the promoters/club owners.

Beautifully written and thoughtfully crafted, it is not an easy piece to read. I’ll fully admit that I had tears in my eyes when Blythe describes sitting down with Nosek’s mother and holding her hands while they both wept.
